A Welcoming Dental Office Designed for Children
The Nest Pediatric Dentistry is a family-owned dental practice for infants and children located in the heart of Waukee, Iowa. Dr. Diana Pelzer opened her own practice to provide the personalized, positive dental care that she would want for her own young daughter. She has designed The Nest to be a space where children and their families feel safe, comfortable and actually enjoy visiting the dentist. Named to symbolize the welcoming environment you’ll experience, The Nest is a cheerful dental home for your little ones.
Expertise In Pediatrics
A passion for pediatrics is at the heart of The Nest. Dr. Diana Pelzer is a board-certified pediatric dentist, dedicated to helping kids develop and maintain good dental health. Dr. Pelzer’s specialization in pediatrics means she has all the tools to treat children and their unique dental needs. She is experienced in the treatment of lip and tongue ties, anxious children, and patients with special healthcare needs. Not only is she focused on helping kids in our community, so is her husband! Dr. Dan Pelzer is a pediatrician at The Iowa Clinic in West Des Moines, just a few minutes’ drive east of The Nest. Dr. Diana and Dr. Dan are honored that you trust their family to care for yours.
When should your child visit the dentist?
It’s never too early to take care of a cavity-free smile! Experts recommend children visit the dentist around their first birthday to prevent dental issues and establish their dental home. Dr. Pelzer and her team get to know your child, their routines and teach healthy habits. We know kids at this age might be nervous during their appointments, but—as a parent herself—Dr. Pelzer takes a gentle approach to help them feel at ease.
Hear From Happy Parents
I can’t say enough great things about Dr. Pelzer! She wasn’t even our dentist when we contacted her on a Sunday morning. We were panicked calling around to pediatric dental offices trying to get our 7-year old son in somewhere after a freak accident where he lost some permanent teeth and had to get them put back in. She opened up her office and met us on that Sunday at noon and was able to stabilize his and save his teeth! She even called us that night and the following day to see how he was doing. She is amazing and if you take your kids to her practice they will be in great hands!!
We have two kiddos on the Autism Spectrum that hate visiting the dentist but since meeting Dr. Diana, they look forward to visiting her and showing her how hard they’ve been working to keep their teeth nice & clean! Dr. Diana recommended several toothbrushes and toothpastes to us when we were struggling with some of the sensory issues associated with ASD and teeth brushing. She made our oldest super comfortable right before she had dental surgery one Friday morning in December 2017 and personally called the following Monday to see how she had felt over the weekend. We cannot rave enough about Dr. Diana and how wonderful she has been to our family.
Dr. Diana is friendly, informative and makes our toddler feel as comfortable as possible! The Pelzers’ are some of the best people you’ll ever meet. Looking forward to following Dr. Diana to her next clinic
